a small or medium size plastic tote and lid
vinyl decals (stove top set) from Wall Decor Plus More
and patience
This mini stove decal set, when applied to a plastic tote, makes an all-in-one play area and storage for all the kitchen "utensils" your child will need and want. You can find these at Walmart for less than $20, or go through your own extra supplies, or check out a garage sale.
Now let's begin. Make sure the LID is clear of dust and dirt.

Voila! Your mini stove is ready for "cooking." It's that easy!
If you are crafty (or know someone who is), it will be extra fun to sew up a quick kid-sized apron. How about sewing/knitting/crocheting some potholders or oven mitts that are just the right size for little hands? Remember those old potholder looms? If the kids are old enough, you can help them make their own potholders!
Because this mini stove is portable, you can take it outside in nicer weather and add the fun of sand and/or water, pebbles, and sticks. Be sure the "stove" stickers are clean and dry before putting away the mini stove.
You'll be surprised how long "cooking" can keep little ones busy, indoors or out! "Cook" food with your child or just sit at the table and "eat" whatever they whip up. And take pictures!
